Bio-Mass
Bio-Mass energy is a growing field used extensively in some Scandinavian countries. A brief description of some technologies is given below:
Land Fill Gas - Methane released from decomposing waste can be captured and burnt, or better used in a Fuel Cell, to generate power. This is a very important system as although the total amount of energy is quite small, the capture of methane (a powerful green house gas) makes the overall ecologial gain of producing energy in this manner very large.
Anerobic Digester Gas - During sewage processing the methane which is produced can be captured and used as above.
